A list without Homer is no list at all - "Homer"
Fair enough. (You better not be saying that just 'cos Bono's been on the Simpsons).
It's not the only reason, but it's a good one.
It's also because Homer is what I would be if I could get away with it.
That might be why Bender is one of my favourites, its an aspirational thing. I reckon there is a bit of Homer in many of us.
To your list I would add Frank from Shameless - a magnificently soiled character with charmless grace. A, I shall buy you the first series as a belated birthday present. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
